Queer / Trans / LGBTQ

As a queer therapist, I know how important it is to not have to educate your healthcare providers. While every client is unique, you will not have to educate me on the basics or nuances of LGBTQ issues, language, or experiences.

Gender and sexuality affirming therapy offers a space to stand in the fullness of who you are. This can be both daunting and empowering. Affirming therapy strengthens your sense of self and may also illuminate aspects of your life and relationships that are in need of change.

I have also worked with clients who are unfolding newer identities and wondering if it’s too late or if they are too old.

It’s never too late. You are never too old.

Letters for Gender Affirming Healthcare

I write letters of support for gender-affirming healthcare for new and established clients. You do not have to be in ongoing therapy for a letter.

All gender identities are welcome and wanted. You are welcome and wanted.

Gender Affirming Therapy is a supportive space to explore identity and build support for your authentic self.

Many of my clients arrive in therapy with the past experience of hiding some of who they are in order to piece together the care they need. One aspect of gender affirming therapy is experiencing a space where you can fully say who you are and what you want without reservation and with full support.

My clients often need support and strategy for conversations, changes, and challenges within existing relationships. Gender Affirming Therapy assists with prioritizing yourself and your wellness as you communicate with significant others.

It’s your turn.

Gender is also not all of who we are.

Gender Affirming Therapy is a space to explore the complexities and magnificence of all of our identities.

In a talk she gave at Harvard University in 1982, Audre Lorde noted “There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not lead single-issue lives.” Lorde was remarking on the need to be open about how complex the histories of our struggles for justice and liberation are. So too are our personal identities- complex, nuanced, layered, rich, and all in need of acknowledgement in order to create a future we want to be within.

Gender Affirming Therapy is a supportive space for holding all of who you are — gender and beyond.

Gender Affirming Therapy is also a practical space.

Some examples of practical needs that arise could be finding affirming providers of many kinds- doctors, massage therapists, barbers and hair stylists, estheticians, and so on.

Other practical support needs could be topics such as how to get a name change, how to talk with HR or professors, or what to do about needle anxiety.

You deserve to have a life that you want to be in,
wholly as yourself.
